Foul play has been ruled out in the case of young mother, Kelly Cremin, who was found dead yesterday at her home in Ballincollig, Co Cork.

The body of Cremin (32) was discovered at her two-storey terraced home at Innishmore Park yesterday at about 5.30pm. A neighbour raised the alarm.

Gardaí attended the property, which was subsequently sealed off for a technical examination. Cremin was pronounced dead at the scene by a local GP and her body was transferred to the morgue.

A postmortem examination was carried out on Saturday at Cork University Hospital by State Pathologist Dr Yvonne McCartney. It revealed that the death occurred as a result of head injuries from a fall.

An inquest will be held in due course. Funeral arrangements for Cremin will be finalised in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Sinn Féin councillor Joe Lynch lives in the estate where Cremin was found deceased. He said his thoughts were with the victim and her family.

“This is a truly shocking incident, and it has caused major upset in what is a close, tight-knit community.

“As a lifelong resident of the estate, I have spent the evening with friends and neighbours, and all I can say is that everyone here in Innishmore is shell-shocked.”

Former Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Colm Kelleher, who lives in Ballincollig, also offered his condolences to the family of Cremin at “an incredibly difficult and painful time.”
