Woman (70s) charged after cocaine worth €420,000 seized in Drogheda

Around 6kg of cocaine worth €420,000 was seized in Drogheda, Co Louth on Monday.

The seizure was made during a search of a residential property as part of ongoing investigations targeting the sale and supply of drugs and related criminal activity in Louth, Cavan and Monaghan.

A woman in her 70s was arrested at the scene and detained at a Garda station in Co Louth under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

She has since been charged and is due to appear before a sitting of Dundalk District Court on Tuesday morning.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
