A total of €229,000 worth of suspected illegal cannabis and THC was seized on Monday by gardaí and Revenue Customs in Co Waterford.

The seizure was made as part of an intelligence-led operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Waterford County Drugs Unit and Revenue Customs Service in Lismore, Co Waterford.

Revenue Customs Officers seized 10.35kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated value of €207,000. Further products containing suspected THC with an estimated value of €22,000 were seized by gardaí in a follow-up search.

A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s were arrested in connection with the investigation.

They are currently detained at a garda station in Co Waterford.

The seized drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
