A man in his 50s has been arrested after gardaí searched a domestic residence in Co Limerick and discovered suspected cannabis with an estimated value of over €100,000.

The man has since been charged in connection with the seizure and is expected to appear before a sitting of Limerick District Court on Monday.

In a statement, An Garda Síochána said gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit in Henry Street conducted an intelligence-led operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in Limerick city on Saturday.

"A domestic residence was searched and Gardaí discovered suspected cannabis herb with an estimated value of over €100,000.

"An adult male (aged in his 50s) was arrested and detained at a Garda station in the Limerick city under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

"He has since been charged in connection with the seizure and is expected to appear before a sitting of Limerick District Court on Monday, 16th February 2026, at 10:30am.

"The seized drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis. Investigations are ongoing."
