A man in his 50s has been arrested and charged following an aggravated burglary in south Dublin.

Gardaí were alerted to the incident at a premises in Dún Laoghaire shortly after 3am on Monday.

The man was arrested at the scene and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before Dún Laoghaire District Court this morning.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
