A woman has been treated in hospital after she was attacked by masked men in Co Antrim.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident in a house in Ballymoney on Friday night.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “We received a report at around 9.15pm on Friday that two masked men, armed with weapons, had attacked a property in the Carnany Park area and assaulted a woman within the house.

“Officers attended the scene, along with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, who took the woman on to hospital for treatment to her injuries.

“There were a number of people in the property at the time of the attack, including another woman and a man, along with a number of children.

“A significant amount of damage was caused to the interior of the house, with numerous items smashed before the men made off.

“We believe the suspects turned right after leaving the house and then ran down an alleyway beside the next-door property.”

The PSNI said it was a “very distressing incident” for all concerned.
