A man in his 50s has died in a road accident in Co Kildare on Saturday.

The fatal collision involving a car and a pedestrian occurred around 5:25 am in the Mylerstown area of Robertstown.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene and his body was transferred to hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place shortly.

No other injuries have been reported.

The scene remains preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Anyone who was travelling in the area between 5:00 am and 5:45 am and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available to investigating gardaí.
