A man in his 30s has been arrested after suspected herbal cannabis, with an estimated street value of €150,000, was seized in Co Louth on Monday.

The seizure of approximately 7.5kg of herbal cannabis was a result of a joint operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB), Dundalk Drugs Unit, and Revenue Customs Service.

The man was arrested under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and is currently being detained at a Garda station in Co Louth.

The drugs seized will be forwarded to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
