Yellow rain warning in place for three counties

A yellow weather warning has been issued for the south-east of Ireland for Tuesday.

Met Éireann said there will be outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, in Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow.

A yellow rain warning will come into place there at midnight on Tuesday, until 6pm later that day.

Meanwhile, the UK’s Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for all six counties in Northern Ireland.

It is expected to last from 6am until 3pm on Tuesday.

Both organisations have said the heavy rain could lead to localised flooding and difficult travelling conditions.

It will be cloudy for most of Sunday with some mist and fog in places, along with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle, heavy at times and most frequent in the north and northwest.

Becoming drier this afternoon as the rain eases with some bright spells around and just scattered patches of light rain or drizzle. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees, in light to moderate easterly or variable winds.

Another dull and wet day on Monday with widespread rain. Rain will persist into the afternoon, turning heavy at times, before gradually clearing eastwards. Breezy too with fresh to strong south-east winds, and gusts along Atlantic coasts. Highest temperatures of 4 to 10 degrees, coldest in the north.

Met Éireann said areas of low pressure will bring a continuation of unsettled weather throughout next week.

It will be cold and breezy at times with further bands of heavy rain, possibly turning wintry at times.

Cold and crisp with frost and ice patches aswell as some early sun in the west on Tuesday.

Elsewhere will see wet and windy weather feeding in from the east through the morning and afternoon.

Rain will turn heavy at times and possibly wintry too, with any falls of snow most likely on higher ground. Highest daytime temperatures of 2 to 7 degrees, but feeling extra chilly due to the very brisk easterly or cyclonic variable winds.
