Negotiators called after man enters Blanchardstown Garda Station and threatens members

Negotiators were called in after a man entered Blanchardstown Garda Station and threatened members early on Tuesday morning.

The man has since been detained under the Mental Health Act, after entering the station shortly before 4am.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and gardaí initiated Operational Command protocol, appointing an On-Scene Commander.

Local Garda negotiators from the National Negotiators Unit, along with the the Armed Support Unit, attended the scene.

A cordon was put in place.

Gardaí said the incident has been resolved peacefully following negotiations. The roads that were closed are now open.

No injuries were reported. The man has been detained under provisions of Section 12 of the Mental Health Act, 2001.
