Four out of five victims of Finglas arson attack discharged from hospital

Four of the five people injured in an arson attack on a home in Finglas have been discharged from hospital, but one woman is continuing to receive treatment.

Gardaí are appealing for information in relation to the fire, which broke out in the Creston Avenue area at about 12:45am on Wednesday.

Emergency services responded to and extinguished the fire in the early hours of New Year’s Eve.

The five occupants of the house were a woman in her 40s; a woman in her 20s; and three teenagers, two girls and one boy; who were brought by ambulance to James Connolly Memorial and Temple Street Children’s hospitals.

The injuries to the woman in her 40s and teenage boy were described as serious, while the injuries to the three others were said to be non-life threatening.

All but the woman in her 40s have been discharged.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the incident.

In an update on the investigation, a spokesperson said: “Four of the five occupants of the house have been discharged from hospital and continue to receive medical attention.

“The woman, aged in her 40s, remains in hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Her condition is described as stable.”

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or noticed anything suspicious in the Creston area between midnight and 1am on Wednesday to contact them.
