Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was slashed by masked men in Banbridge, Co Down, on Tuesday night.

The PSNI say he was attacked by a number of men outside a hotel in the Lurgan Road area.

One of the suspects reportedly got out of a car in front of the hotel and threw a liquid in the man’s face.

He then tried to run away but fell and was slashed multiple times across his back before the men drove off.

In a statement the PSNI said: “The males involved in the attack had their faces covered and it is believed they were driving a black Toyota Avensis.”

Officers received reports of the attack at around 8:30pm and attended the scene with the ambulance service.

The man was then taken to hospital.

The PSNI said their inquiries are ongoing and have asked for anyone who was in the area on Tuesday evening or who might have CCTV, dashcam or other footage to get in touch.
