A Co Donegal woman who turns 100 today received the birthday wish of a lifetime - a visit from Daniel O'Donnell.

Kitty Roarty got the best present yesterday when the singer surprised her at her home in The Wood, Glenties.

When Kitty turned 99 last year, Daniel sent her a video message for her celebrations.

The Kincasslagh man then promised Kitty that he would call in person and help her celebrate her centenary birthday.

And true to his word, Daniel took time out of his Christmas to visit Kitty.

A shocked Kitty welcomed the star and said, "Daniel, I can't believe you're here."

The pair chatted, had photos taken and sang a couple of songs together.

Kitty, originally from Bruckless, is a huge fan of the singer and loves watching him on his TG4 series Opry Le Daniel.

Kitty lived in Birmingham for a number of years with her late husband, Michael, before returning and settling in Glenties.

With five children, 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, there were promises of a lot of birthday cake and fun - even before Santa arrives.
