Drivers have been advised to take extra care after Met Éireann issued weather warnings for heavy rain this weekend.

An orange rain warning is in place for Cork and Kerry from 3am to 6pm on Sunday.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) has said significant rainfall, especially on high ground, may lead to river and surface water flooding and poor visibility.

Much of the rest of the west coast, including Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Donegal, and Connacht will be under a yellow rain warning from 6pm on Saturday to midnight on Sunday.

Tipperary, Waterford, and Wexford will also be under yellow rain warnings from midnight on Sunday until 3am on Monday.

The Met Office has also issued a yellow rain warning for all of Northern Ireland for Sunday and Monday.

The RSA said drivers should “check local traffic and weather conditions before setting out on a journey”.
