A teenage boy is being treated for life-threatening injuries after a crash between a motorcycle and three cars in Co Kerry.

At around 4pm, gardaí and emergency services responded to a report of a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and three other vehicles on the N22 at Lissivigeen.

The motorcyclist, a male in his late teens, was brought by air ambulance to Cork University Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The road has been closed to allow for a technical examination of the scene to be conducted by Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N22 in the Lissivigeen area between 3.45pm and 4.15pm are asked to make it available to investigating gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 667 1160, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
