Gardaí have said a man in his 20s who was arrested in connection with their investigation into a fatal two-vehicle road traffic collision in Drogheda has since been released from detention.

The collision, which involved a van and a motorcycle, occurred at James Street, Drogheda, shortly before 7:10am on Friday, August 29th.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, sustained critical injuries and was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, where he was pronounced deceased on Sunday, August 31st.

Following the man's release from detention, gardaí said a file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
