A woman in her 80s has died after she was hit by a car in Co Carlow.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to the single-vehicle road traffic collision at Myshall village shortly before 5.30pm on Monday.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident, which involved a car and a pedestrian.

The pedestrian died at the scene.

The coroner has been notified, and the woman’s body has been removed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

No other injuries were reported.
