An infant boy is in critical condition after a two-car crash in Co Louth.

The crash happened on the R132 at Dowdallshill, Dundalk, at around 8.20pm on Saturday night.

The driver of the first car, a woman in her late 20s, was removed from the scene and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with non-life-threatening injuries.

The passenger of the car, an infant boy, was taken to Temple Street where he remains in critical condition.

The driver of the second vehicle, a man in his early 50s and the passenger, a teenage girl, were also taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The N52 is currently closed and local diversions are in place.
