A woman is being treated for serious burn injuries after an alleged assault at a home in west Dublin.

Gardai said they were investigating the incident, which happened at a property in Clondalkin at around 10:10am on Tuesday.

The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for burn injuries, which are believed to be serious, while a man was also taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries believed to be non-life-threatening.

The scene has been preserved pending a technical examination.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed and an incident room has been established at Clondalkin Garda Station.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone with video footage of the Oak Downs area of Clondalkin between 9.30am and 10.20am on Tuesday morning to contact them.
