A number of families have been evacuated from their homes in Derry overnight.

The PSNI said that a security alert is continuing in the Glenabbey Close area of the city.

Cordons are in place, and residents have been told that they cannot return home yet.

The Police Derry City and Strabane said: "We're dealing with a security alert in Glenabbey Close in the Skeoge area of the city this morning (20 Nov) where a number of homes have been evacuated.

"We will keep you updated, as we continue to work to make the scene safe."
