Man, 24, killed in Coleraine crash named

Police have named the man killed in a crash early on Saturday as 24-year-old Jamie Mitchell from the Portrush area.

A 24-year-old man killed in a crash in Coleraine has been named by police as Jamie Mitchell.

In a statement, the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said officers were called to reports of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in the Dunhill Road area in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Emergency services attended but the man, from the Portrush area, died at the scene in Co Derry.

The Dunhill Road was closed but has since reopened.

Chief Inspector Celeste Simpson said: “Collision Investigation Unit detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances and are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision or to anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam or any other footage that could assist with inquiries, to contact detectives.”
