A man in his 40s has been arrested by gardaí investigating the theft of a vehicle in Midleton, Co Cork and hijacking of a vehicle in Roscrea, Co Tipperary that occurred on Sunday.

The man was arrested on Wednesday morning.

The male is currently being detained at a Garda Station in Co Cork under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Investigations are ongoing.
