A man has died following an assault in Kildare at the weekend.

The man, aged in his 20s, was found unresponsive on McGee Terrace in Kildare town at approximately 3:15am on Sunday.

On Thursday evening, gardaí confirmed he has since passed away in hospital.

The Garda spokesperson said the coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.

“Gardaí are continuing to appeal to anyone with information in relation to this incident,” they said.

“Any road users who were in the area between 2am and 4am and who may have video footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Kildare Garda Station on 045 527730, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.”
