Met Éireann has issued status yellow rain and wind warnings for some counties in the south of the country for Thursday.

Cork and Kerry will be under a status yellow rain warning from 11am until 8pm on Thursday, with the weather forecaster predicting spells of heavy rain throughout the day.

Possible impacts include localised flooding, difficult travel conditions, and poor visibility.

There will also be a status yellow wind warning for Cork, Kerry, Waterford, and Wexford on Thursday.

This will be in effect from 11am until 11pm on Thursday, with Met Éireann predicting very strong and gusty southerly winds with gales on coasts.

Other possible impacts include difficult travel conditions, some fallen trees, and wave overtopping.

There is also a yellow rain warning in place for Galway and Mayo from 12pm to 8pm.

The UK Met Office has also issued yellow wind warnings for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, and Derry from 1pm to 11pm.

There will be wet and windy conditions country-wide on Thursday, with rain spreading northeastwards over the country during the morning and early afternoon accompanied by fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds with gales developing along coasts.

The rain will be heavy at times with spot flooding likely.
