Long before costumes, sweets, and horror films, Halloween began right here in Ireland. What we now know as trick-or-treating and pumpkin carving has deep roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain, marking the end of the harvest and the beginning of winter.

This is a time when the boundary between the living and the dead is said to blur.
