Newstalk has announced that the Pat Kenny Show will host a one-hour, live on-air presidential debate on Tuesday from 9-10am.

The two remaining candidates in the race, Heather Humphreys and Catherine Connolly, will be quizzed in the studio by Pat Kenny, with less than two weeks to go until voting on Friday, October 24th.

Front and centre will be matters in the headlines recently, in addition to each candidate’s vision for the presidency and their perspective on issues that Newstalk listeners can raise.

Managing editor of Newstalk, Eric Moylan, said: "This is an intriguing presidential race that's finely poised as we enter the final full week of campaigning.

"This debate could prove decisive for one of the candidates.

"Having a broadcaster of Pat Kenny's ability and calibre moderate the proceedings will bring an extra dimension to the programme and will make for essential listening."
