A man has been arrested after €8.2 million worth of drugs was seized by gardaí in a major operation over the last two days.

16 properties were searched in Dublin, Meath, Westmeath, Laois, and Offaly as part of an investigation into organised crime gangs.

Gardaí seized in excess of 110 kilos of suspected cocaine and 1.5 kilos of suspected heroin, with an estimated street value of €8.2 million.

A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking offences, and he is being held at a Garda station in the capital.
