Two people have been arrested following a search of a house in Co Mayo in connection with alleged money laundering and unlawful use of a computer.

Gardaí carried out searches of two properties in rural West Mayo as part of an operation that formed part of an intelligence-led investigation into criminal activity on the Darkweb.

A man and a woman, both aged in their 30s, were arrested for alleged offences, including unlawful use of a computer and money laundering offences.

They are currently being held at a Garda station in Co Mayo.

A quantity of suspected cannabis herb was seized at the scene, along with a significant volume of electronic exhibits, which will undergo forensic examination.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
