A Dublin man has pleaded guilty to the unlawful killing of another man at Fairview Strand over four years ago.

Joshua Rush, 25, pleaded guilty on Monday at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court that he did unlawfully kill Charles McCaughley on June 26th, 2021 at Fairview Strand, Fairview.

Ronan Kennedy SC, defending, made an application for a probation report. He said his client is a “young man with a troubled background”, who has had “limited interaction with the criminal justice system”.

A psychological report was also being prepared, the court heard.

Rush, of Fairview Strand, Dublin, spoke only to enter a guilty plea when the charge was put to him.

Prosecuting counsel Diana Stuart told the court that members of the deceased man's family were present.

Judge Orla Crowe directed the preparation of a probation report. She remanded Rush on continuing bail, and adjourned the case to a date in January 2026 for sentence.
