A man in his 20s has been arrested in connection with an alleged incident of false imprisonment of a woman in a vehicle in Listowel, Co Kerry, on Sunday.

The incident occurred on Clieveragh Road on the outskirts of Listowel town centre at approximately 3:20am.

The man was arrested and detained at a Garda Station in the Southern Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were in the area between Listowel town centre and the R552 Clieveragh Road between 2am and 4am to make this footage available to gardaí.

Gardaí are particularly interested in the movements of a white Audi A4 saloon vehicle during this period.
