A man in his 40s was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of aiding and abetting an unlawful escape from custody.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of helping a man escape Garda custody in Co Kilkenny.

The individual, who was arrested on 18th September, escaped from custody on the evening of Monday, September 22nd. He was last seen on Emmet Street, Kilkenny, shortly after 8:00 pm.

As part of the investigation, a number of searches have been carried out, including at several residential properties and lands in Co Kilkenny.

A man in his 40s was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of aiding and abetting an unlawful escape from custody.

He has since been released pending a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí wish to thank members of the local community for their continued cooperation and assistance during the search efforts.

Investigators are also liaising with other national and regional agencies to support efforts in locating and arresting the suspect
