A Dublin man accused of strangling a woman during a non-fatal assault at his home has been sent forward for trial.

Lee Quinn, 29, of Keeper Road, Dublin 12, was initially charged with criminal damage to a door, bed and window at his home address on June 3rd.

In August, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) authorised investigating officer, Garda Adam Deegan, to bring an additional charge under section 3A of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act for strangulation of a named woman.

Mr Quinn appeared again on Wednesday at Cloverhill District Court, where Garda Deegan served him with a book of evidence.

The DPP has directed "trial on indictment", and Judge Peter White granted a return-for-trial order, sending him forward to the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The case will be listed for mention on November 13th.

There was no application for bail.

Earlier, Sundrive Road-based Garda Deegan said Mr Quinn was cautioned and "made no reply" when the extra charge was put to him.

Legal aid was granted to Mr Quinn, who has yet to enter a plea.
