A woman in her 80s has died after being struck by a bus in Galway city.

The collision occurred at around 8.45pm on the Dublin Road, Wellpark, on Monday, September 15th.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been brought to University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem will be arranged.

No other injuries were reported.

The scene was examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, and the road has since reopened.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash cam, and were travelling in the area between 8.30pm and 9pm on Monday have been asked to make their footage available to investigating gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gaillimh Garda Station on (091) 538000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.

Investigations are ongoing, a garda statement said.
