A man in his 80s has died following an assault in Co Tipperary.

The alarm was raised when he was found outside his home in Tipperary town last Friday evening.

The elderly man was discovered lying on the ground outside his detached garage on St Michael’s Avenue shortly before 9:30pm on Friday last.

He was taken to the hospital but has since died from his injuries.

The local coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, and a post-mortem will be arranged.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
