Heather Humphreys confirmed as Fine Gael candidate for Presidential election

Heather Humphreys has been confirmed as the Fine Gael candidate in the upcoming presidential election.

In a statement today, the party said that Ms Humphreys received the required nomination of at least 20 members of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party, 25 Councillors and 5 members of the Fine Gael Executive Council.

She was the only candidate to do so.

Her name will go forward for ratification at a party event to take place on Saturday, September 13th, which will be the official campaign launch.

Tánaiste and Fine Gael leader Simon Harris congratulated Ms Humphreys on her nomination.

“Heather is a woman of integrity, dignity, and heart. In an increasingly divisive world, I believe Heather can break down barriers and bring people together. Her record in public life has demonstrated that vision of unity and community," he said.

“I am so excited for Heather to take her message and her vision to every corner of this great country."
