A man in his 40s was seriously injured in the attack on Westmoreland Street at about 6:30am on Sunday morning.

Gardaí are at the scene of a serious assault in Dublin city centre.

A man in his 40s was seriously injured in the attack on Westmoreland Street at about 6:30am on Sunday morning.

He was taken to St James's Hospital for treatment.

The scene, and part of O'Connell Street are currently sealed off.
