Microsoft reporting widespread issue with Outlook

Microsoft is reporting issues affecting users of its Outlook email service.

Outlook is used by millions of people and businesses globally, and the users were experiencing issues with sending and receiving emails since mid-morning.

 

According to Down Detector, the problems started at about 12:40pm and have affected users across Europe.  

Users have taken to X to complain about the outage, with some reporting issues in the US as well.

In a note to customers, Microsoft said: "Some users who are located in Europe attempting to send or receive Exchange Online email messages may be impacted. We're reviewing service monitoring telemetry to isolate the source of the issue and establish a fix."

Since 3pm some users have reported that the service has returned.
