A total of 446 admitted patients are waiting for beds in hospitals on Friday morning.

University Hospital Limerick accounts for the largest number of those, with 100, followed by University Hospital Galway with 58 and Sligo University Hospital with 45.

Of the total number of people on trolleys, 294 are in emergency departments while 152 are in wards, according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO).
