The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed that it has launched an investigation after a man suffered serious injuries following a workplace accident in the Port of Cork on Wednesday night.

The man underwent surgery at Cork University Hospital after the incident at Ringaskiddy port. It is understood that he sustained significant blood loss.

The man, who is in his 50s, was treated by paramedics before being transported to hospital for emergency treatment.

The HSA has confirmed that a probe is underway.

“The HSA is aware of the incident and has launched an investigation. As such, no further information is available at this time.”
