Dublin Fire Brigade have advised residents in the Balbriggan area of Dublin to stay indoors and keep their windows closed on Thursday morning.

A large fire has broken out at a waste disposal site in the area, and smoke is drifting across a wide area.

The fire brigade said they were making good progress at the recycling centre fire in an update issued just after 10am.

They were notified of the fire at 6.30am this morning, and nine units of Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene.

However, the update issued via X said five fire engines and a water tanker remained on scene after 10am.

Firefighting operations are expected "to continue for the foreseeable," the update added.
