Man (20s) injured following assault in Co Mayo

A man in his 20s has been left in a serious condition in hospital following an alleged assault in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

At 2.50 am, gardaí received a report of a male unconscious after an alleged assault outside a licensed premises on Tucker Street.

The injured man in his 20s was removed from the scene and taken to Mayo University Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The scene was preserved, and an examination was carried out.

Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to contact them.

Any road users or persons with camera footage (including dash-cam) in the Tucker Street area between 2:30 am and 3:15 am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
