A man in his 40s has been arrested after gardaí seized approximately €1.9 million of controlled drugs in New Ross, Co Wexford, on Friday.

As part of Operation Tara, a search of a premises was carried out by members attached to the Wexford Crime Unit.

During the course of the search, 89kg of cannabis with an estimated value of €1.76 million, and 2kg of cocaine with an estimated value of €140,000, was located.

The drugs seized will be sent for further analysis.

A man aged in his 40s was arrested in relation to this seizure.

He is currently detained under pursuant Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at a Garda Station in Co. Wexford.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing.
