Around €1.1 million worth of controlled drugs were seized, and two men were arrested in Tallaght, Dublin 24, on Friday.

Officers attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau intercepted a vehicle shortly after 12pm as part of ongoing investigations under Operation Tara, targeting drug trafficking networks. The officers also searched a residential premises in the area.

A total of 57kg of cannabis, as well as heroin and amphetamine, which are subject to analysis, were seized.

The drugs will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Two men, aged in their 50s and 20s, were arrested and are detained at garda stations in Dublin under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

Investigations are ongoing, a garda statement said.
