A man has died from his injuries following a two-vehicle collision in Newport, Co Mayo, on Sunday.

The incident happened on the Castlebar road involving a car and a motorcycle, which occurred at approximately 4.50 pm.

The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 50s, was conveyed to Mayo University Hospital and has since passed away following this collision.

No other injuries were reported.

A man, aged in his 60s, was later arrested in connection with the investigation and subsequently released without charge pending further investigations.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area of Castlebar Road, Newport, Co. Mayo, between 4pm and 5pm on Sunday 17th August 2025, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
