The man charged in connection with an incident in Waterford on Friday, following which a man died, has been remanded in custody pending DPP instructions.

David Norris (35) of 8 Assumption Terrace, Rosbercon, New Ross, Co Wexford, appeared by video link before Judge Miriam Walsh at Waterford District Court on Tuesday, August 5th.

As The Waterford News & Star reports, Mr Norris is charged with assault causing harm contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Acts Against the Person Act 1997.

Acting for the state, Sergeant John Phelan made an application for the defendant to be remanded in continuing custody to await further instructions from the DPP.

Judge Walsh put the matter back to August 19th.

On Friday, August 1st, at around 2:20 pm, uniformed gardaí responded to a call at a house in St Catherine’s Grange Housing Estate.

There, they found a male in his 70s unconscious.

A second male in his 30s was arrested at the scene. An Garda Síochána say the investigation is ongoing.
