Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault on a woman in her 40s that occurred in Muirhevnamore Park, Dundalk, at approximately 6pm on Friday.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to contact them.

Anyone, including road users and pedestrians, who were in Muirhevnamore Park, Dundalk at approximately 6pm on Friday evening and who may have footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dundalk Garda Station 042 938 8400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

As part of the investigation a man, aged in his 40s, was arrested and has since been charged in. He appeared before a special sitting of Dundalk District Court on Monday, August 4th.

Investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
