Gardai are investigating the death of a man in his late 40s in Carrick on Suir in south Tipperary.

The body of the 49-year-old was found in a property in the Ravenswood estate on Monday morning by family members.

The emergency services attended at the scene. The man was pronounced dead by a local GP. It was noted by gardaí that he had a number of injuries.

A postmortem examination which is set to be carried out at University Hospital Waterford will determine the course of the Garda investigation.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and the Office of the State Pathologist has been notified.

Gardaí are attempting to establish the last known movements of the man. Door to door inquiries will be carried out in the estate where the man was found.

Gardaí will also check CCTV security camera footage from houses in the area to determine any movements to and from the property.
