A man in his 50s has appeared in court in Cork, following the seizure of approximately 107kg of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €2.1 million.

In a joint operation, Gardai and Revenue seized the drugs that were hidden in a truck that arrived into Cork Port from Belgium last Sunday.

They were found in a trailer which had originated in Croatia and had disembarked a vessel arriving from Zeebrugge in Belgium.

Investigations are ongoing.
