Investigation launched after body of man (70s) found in Co Kerry

Gardaí have launched an investigation after the body of a man in his 70s was found in Kilgarvin, Co Kerry.

The man's body was found in the early hours of Wednesday.

At 4.00am, gardaí were notified of a man aged in his 70s who had been brought to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee, having earlier been found unresponsive outside a premises on Church Street in Kilgarvin.

He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Gardaí said the State pathologist and the local coroner had been notified and a postmortem had been arranged, the outcome of which would determine the course of the investigation.

The scene is preserved and investigations are ongoing, gardaí said.
