A woman aged in her 70s has died after a crash involving a car and a truck outside Drogheda.

Gardaí and emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal road traffic collision near the Co Louth town.

The crash happened at Platin Terrace shortly after 10.30am on Thursday.

The woman, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan.

No other injuries were reported.

The road was closed to allow a technical examination by forensic investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
